The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the voice for the environment in the United Nations system. UNEP acts as a catalyst, advocate, educator and facilitator to promote the wise use and sustainable development of the global environment.
From helping governments form national biodiversity strategies to driving innovation through the Green Economy Initiative, UNEP’s mission is to inspire and support nations and communities to improve their quality of life, without compromising that of future generations.
The UNEP Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened in June 2010 in order to facilitate implementation of programmes and projects UNEP is conducting in the country and the region of South East Europe. To accomplish its mission, UNEP works with a wide range of partners, including United Nations entities, international organizations, national and sub-national governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and civil society.
